Introduction / History

Turum tribe and the hostile Rzigat Aballa tribe. The Turums represent a relatively small group-in Sudan. They easily fall prey to more numerous people groups with stronger ties to the Sudanese government.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Safe drinking water is scarce as is arable land. For this reason, various tribes attack one another for limited resources. But the Sudanese government seems to undermine local and regional steps towards resolution.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Most Turum people are Sunni Muslim, but Islamic rituals blend in with animistic practices.

One source indicates that over a million people have turned to Christ in Sudan in recent years. Repulsed by the brutalities they see by the government and rebel groups; many reject the Islamic path to embrace God's forgiveness through Christ.

What Are Their Needs?

The Turum people need peace. Without peace, they will not be able to have anything they need.

Prayer Points

Pray that Christians will join efforts to end ethnic cleansing and to bring about reconciliation in Christ.
Pray that Christian relief organizations will show unconditional love among the Turum people and their enemies.
